Behbud requires trained designers to increase the scope of its vocational training projects for women from urban slum areas in stitching,embroidery and block printing. Designers will be engaged in developing ideas for new products and new design options for existing products.

As part of the projects, once the women receiving skill training from Behbud develop proficiency in their chosen craft they make products for sale at the Behbud outlet in Zamzama. Products include:

Household linen

Blockprinted household linen and janamaz sets

Leather albums, photo frames, bags etc

Children's clothing

Volunteer Opportunity: Conversation for a Cause -- Survey a community for uplift projects!

Concern for Children needs a female volunteer with good communication skills and fluency in Urdu to conduct door to door surveys and compile responses for our community driven development projects in Machar Colony. The volunteer will be assisted by the field coordinator and the program officer.

Through home and mobile schools as well as sponsorships of children for formal education, CEDF has been reaching out to children in low-resourced communities of Karachi since 1986. Description: Interactive Research and Development (IRD) is offering exciting internship opportunities through the Tasweer-e-Zindagi project for young people interested in pursuing careers in public health, international development, or a related field.

The Tasweer-e-Zindagi project aims to understand, share, and address the experiences of people affected by tuberculosis and the stigma surrounding this disease. The project is using Photovoice, a participatory research methodology, in which participants are given cameras and asked to take photographs to represent the supporting factors and challenges faced by people living with TB. These photographs are discussed and analyzed with the participants, and will be used for advocacy with community members, practitioners, and policy-makers to promote support for people living with TB. The project will also include a communications campaign using local media (cable TV channels, billboards, brochures, etc.) to raise awareness of TB and the services available.

Interns will work the Tasweer-e-Zindagi team on all aspects of the project including conducting interviews, note-taking, transcribing discussions, analyzing data, and preparing for the communications campaign.

Design for Change Pakistan (DFC Pakistan) is part of a global movement to engage children in actively identifying and implementing solutions to social problems. Design for Change is giving children across the world and all over Pakistan a simple four step challenge: Feel, Imagine,Do and Share.By giving children the opportunity to design solutions to the world's greatest problems faced by the world they are growing up in, DFC Pakistan will enable children to ‘be the change’.This historic initiative is targeting students of Classes 3 through 8.

Having started with 14 students in a garage, TGS now serves 300 students living in Neelum Colony and Shah Rasool Colony of Karachi. The school seeks to nurture children who are not just academically competent but also tolerant, responsible, caring human beings. TGS now also has an adult literacy and vocational skills training program to further its goal of empowering communities to take ownership of their well being.

Name of Opportunity : On board for the Board Exam - Chemistry Tutor needed!

Description: Part time Chemistry teacher is urgently required for Grade 9 students who are appearing for their board exams this year. Candidates should hold at least a graduate degree in the mentioned subjects. The students need someone to prepare them for their exams in April / March.

Date :  January 2012 onwards

Timings : any 2 hours between 3 pm and 7:30 pm, 3 days a week

Duration : 3 months

Addition Information: The volunteers are requested to arrange for their own transport.

Time table must be discussed and the volunteers are requested to strictly follow the time table as most of these students have part time jobs and they cannot come during odd hours of the day
